From Garsington Opera News 2016

We are delighted that this is the fourth year you can find beautiful bespoke scarves by fine artist and textile designer Victoria Rees in the Garsington Opera Shop. Visit Wormsley for a performance and you'll discover the unique designs based on the 2016 season.

Using her opera sketch book drawings done during rehearsals and performances, Victoria works with every attention to detail to create the pieces. This year's collection has the 'Garsington' stole, one of her ink drawings done from an ariel view of the beautiful grounds at Wormsley as a central panel. She has created a border using watercolour scenes of the characters and set designs from this year's three productions, playfully linked by Garsington's iconic tents with a fine hand-rolled pink edging.

The collection also features the 'Singing by the light of the moon' stole, 'Duet' ribbon scarf and 'Marriage of Figaro' men's scarf in evening blue.

Victoria says: "One of the bonuses for me as an artist working with musicans has been to find a way to bring my love of textiles into my creative process."

To see all the drawings used to create the designs visit Victoria's website:www.victoriarees.co.uk

Victoria Rees studied at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford, before getting a bursary to the Royal Academy Schools as a postgraduate. She has exhibited at the BP Portrait Award, National Gallery and last year was part of the Ruth Borchard self-portrait collection at the Piano Nobile Gallery, London.

Painting as they have driven the boonrig down through Spain, they are now parked up somewhere in Barcelona continuing to work from the boon rig till hanging the exhibition on the 3rd ready for opening on the 4th of June. All the work by necessity is small, 2 artists in one studio but knowing both their creative energy the pieces will hold any wall space.

Tatler's little Black Book Party

Wonderful to see handsome Alexander Coleridge wearing one of my "Fidelio" scarves to this Tatler party.

Wonderful to see handsome Alexander Coleridge wearing one of my "Fidelio" scarves to this Tatler party.

As you can imagine I was thrilled to be shown this photo of one of my scarves being worn at the Tatler, "little black book party" but also because I believe it shows what my scarves can do ie be taken out of your pocket or bag at the end of a days work, the rich jewel colours I hope making you feel better but certainly look fantastic.

From a practical point of view we use the finest heavy silk satin and finish so they don't look crumpled after being packed. One suit or dress, 2 colour way scarves/pocket squares, stole or ribbon scarf = minimal luggage endless possibilities.
