Mary Wing To's wonderful work

I took my Mum to see the exhibition I have work in yesterday, "Off the wall"  at "acp, canvas for creativity" and was again bowled over by the work of Mary Wing To, the craftsmanship is exquisite. A master saddler, who also works for Channel. Do have a look at her web site.

"Venice Stole" back in stock. Pic's of initial sketch book drawings

Really thrilled my Venice stole has been such a success with you. I thought you might like to see some of the initial sketches. I created the Stole for Garsington Opera to celebrate their production of Death in Venice, director Steuart Bedford, designer Kevin Knight, it was a great success, see below review. Going to the design presentation and using for the first time film,  Visconti's film "Death in Venice" for inspiration. Lot's of samples and sketches were made and I came up with this and it's sold out twice !!

Starring Paul Nilon and wonderfully conducted by Steuart Bedford, Paul Curran’s production of Britten’s final opera is unforgettable.

My 2015 Garsington Opera's Scarf Series

It has been wonderful for me to hear how much each series I have designed has been loved over the last three years. Right from the initial drawings during rehearsals, through to the packaging, I try to create something that is unique to Garsington.

This years  "Vixen Stole", "Sing" Ribbon Scarf and "Fidelio" mens evening scarf have all been created using my Garsington sketch books done during last years rehearsals. I have specially designed and produced the  "Venice Stole" for the Opera's production of "Death In Venice" Have a look at some of the sketches in the drawing section.

The photo shoot at Wormsley is today and I will upload the pics as soon as I can.

2014 News

Throughout 2012 and 2013, Victoria has been working with thr Southbank Sinfonia and the band Jesus Jones.

The collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures and designs she has done during this time will be exhibited at The North Wall gallery, Oxford, this September to coincide with The Southbank Sinfonia's performance at The North Wall as part of the young Britten in Oxford festival.  Conductor Nicholas Cleobury

Victoria has designed and produced a series of scarves for Garsington Opera's 2013 season which were inspired from her time spent as Artist in Residence at Garsington Manor 2009 and 2010.  "The Opera Scarf", full of characters taken from the drawings she produced during rehearsals.  "The Red Dress", created from a performance by the soprano Lorna Anderson where she wore a stunning red gown.  "The Cello" scarf, from a series of Ink studies of the cellist Steven Isserlis.  The scarves sold out at Garsington, which is fantastic. They can now be brought through my website just click on Victoria's collection.

This summer, Victoria has been awarded the "Heliker-LaHotan Foundation" residency in Maine, U.S.A.

Victoria will be giving a talk on her work at 7pm, Monday the 16th of September at the North wall Theatre in Oxford.
